Vancouver is finally getting FREE watch parties for the Canucks playoffs & here’s where

Big news, Vancouver! The City is finally rallying together to cheer on the Canucks through Round 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, with free watch parties planned for most of the games in the series!

Starting with Game 3 on Sunday, May 12th, Oak Meadows Park (899 West 37th Avenue) will come alive with as many cheering Canucks fans as it can squeeze.

According to the City, the viewing area will be set up at the north end of the park on Oak and West 37th – so come prepared with your jerseys, Canucks gear, and picnic blankets!

With enough room for 2,000 people to bring a blanket and watch the action unfold on a big screen, the viewing party will be family-friendly with porta potties and sanitation services set up to maintain a usable space for all.

As well, select community centres across Vancouver will be showing the Round 2 games in their lobbies, giving locals the chance to gather with their friends and neighbours to watch.

The cherry on top? If the Canucks proceed to Round 3, we might just get a public viewing experience at the PNE, which can fit up to 6,000 fans!

“The playoffs are all about bringing people together,” says Mayor Ken Sim. “Whether you’re a die-hard fan or getting swept up in the Canucks spirit for the first time, head to Oak Meadows, pull up a chair with your neighbours or (hopefully) raise a beer at the PNE.”

Both home and away games during Round 2 will be shown at Oak Meadows come rain or shine, on the following dates:

  • Game 3 – Sunday, May 12 at 6:30 pm
  • Game 4 – Tuesday, May 14 time TBD
  • Game 5 – Thursday, May 16 time TBD
  • Game 6 – Saturday, May 18 time TBD
  • Game 7 – Monday, May 20 time TBD

Note that Games 5 to 7 will depend on whether the Canucks advance or not. So fingers crossed we make it!

Let’s go, Vancouver! The sun is shining, and we’ve finally got a place to gather to root for our team.

Go ‘Nucks!!
