If you’re only using the Toronto Public Library (TPL) to rent books, then you’re missing out on some pretty awesome perks. Did you know that through TPL, you can sign up for free classes on a range of topics, including law and business?
It’s easy to sign up, and what do you have to lose? It’s free!
According to the Toronto Public Library, these free Gale Courses are online but still instructor-led. “As a library card holder in good standing, you are entitled to these courses at no cost. Courses run for six weeks, and new sessions begin every month,” states the organization.
Currently, there are 69 courses available under 12 categories:
Once you’ve narrowed down your category and course, it’s time to sign up! You must have a Toronto library card and create a free Gale Courses account or sign in to an existing ed2go account.
From there, enter your email address in the New Student area and click “Create Account.” You will use your Gale Courses account email and password to log in to the My Classroom area, which will tell you all about your sessions and when lessons begin. Finally, enter your library barcode in the box and go to “Use Library Card” to complete enrollment.
In a world where education costs (and basically everything else, for that matter) seem to never stop growing, this is a great way to learn something new without breaking the bank.
