These festive Christmas markets in Metro Vancouver are free to enjoy

The holiday season can be an exciting time – not only for you, but for your wallet. So in an effort to save where we can, we’ve put together a list of all the free-to-enter Christmas markets you’ll find in Metro Vancouver. So grab your favourite cozy sweater and don your proverbial Santa hat, and get ready to shop local!

Here are 7 festive Christmas markets that are free to enjoy in Metro Vancouver.

Deer Lake Winter Festival

The annual Deer Lake Winter Fest will feature up to 60 local artisans at its holiday market, and you’ll have three days to take in the sights and peruse this year’s vendors! So pick up a sweet treat, a gift or two, and get ready to enjoy all the festival has to offer.

The free-to-enter market will operate from 11 am to 7 pm on November 22nd and from 10 am to 5 pm on November 23rd and 24th.

When: Friday, November 22nd to Sunday, November 24th
Where: 6450 Deer Lake Avenue, Burnaby
Cost: Free admission

Shipyards Christmas Market 

The brand-new Shipyards Christmas Market will feature over 75 wooden stalls adorned with twinkling holiday lights, with a variety of unique artisanal gifts for sale. Visitors can also celebrate the start of the season with festive music, ice skating on the outdoor ice rink, mulled wine and cocoa, and North Vancouver’s shining Christmas tree.

When: Friday, November 29th to December 24th

Silver Harbour Christmas Market

The Silver Harbour Christmas Market will showcase a variety of handcrafted goods made by seniors at the Silver Harbour Centre in North Vancouver – including stained glass, pottery, holiday decor, knitting, and woodworking. Consider it your chance to shop local and make someone’s day by giving their creation a new home!

The market will take place from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, November 16th and Sunday, November 17th.

Where: 144 East 22nd Street, North Vancouver

Swedish Christmas Market

From 11 am to 4 pm on Saturday, November 16th and Sunday, November 17th, there will be a traditional Swedish Christmas Market (Julmarknad) with hot dogs, Swedish pastries, open sandwiches, and glogg at the Scandinavian Community Centre in Burnaby.

When: Saturday, November 16th and Sunday, November 17th

Steveston Christmas Craft Fair

From 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, November 23rd, Steveston is hosting its beloved annual Christmas Craft Fair, which will have over 125 vendors offering a range of handcrafted goodies and treats to peruse! There will also be exciting raffle prizes to win during your visit.

When: Saturday, November 16th and Sunday, November 17th

West End Holiday Craft Fair

The West End Holiday Craft Fair will offer holiday lovers another chance to pick up a couple of locally-made goodies for their loved ones this holiday season, taking place from 10 am to 4 pm at the West End Community Centre on Saturday, November 23rd and Sunday, November 24th.

When: Saturday, November 23rd and Sunday, November 24th

New West Farmers Market Holiday Market

The fifth annual New West Farmers Market Holiday Market is this December, and you won’t want to miss it. Holiday shoppers will have the chance to shop from over 80 local artisans and food vendors, enjoy live music, and soak up the best of the season.

When: Saturday, December 14th and Sunday, December 15th
Where: 511 Royal Avenue, New Westminster
Cost: Free admission
