Lights, camera, action: These are all of the TV shows & movies filming in Alberta this spring

Wild Rose Country is no stranger to Oscar-award-winning talent and critically acclaimed TV shows from ‘The Last of Us’ to ‘Fargo.’

This upcoming season will be another good one, according to ACTRA who has confirmed that several new productions featuring several recognizable faces will take place in and around the province! Not sure what or who to keep your peepers prepared for? Here are the TV shows and movies filming in Alberta this spring.

 The Abandons 

Described as a “Western action drama,” The Abadons will star Gillian Anderson (The Crown) and Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), and follow a group of ‘diverse and atypical families driven out of their homes by a corrupt force. This particular show was created and executive produced by showrunner Karl Sutter (Sons Of Anarchy) keep your eyes out!

Abracadavres: Season 3

A coming-of-age story, with superheroes! The Abracadvres is a quirky indie comedy that explores the complexities of loss, friendship and life. This spring they’ll be filming their third season in and around Calgary,

Wynonna Earp: Vengeance

A series deeply beloved by fantasy fans, Wynonna Earp was famously filmed in Alberta and has returned to shoot a 90-minute special aptly named Wynonna Earp: Vengeance. Originally starring Melanie Scrofano, Tim Rozon, Dom Provost-Chalkley, and Katherine Barrell, showrunner Emily Andras confirmed that “all your favourite characters” will be back.

Brother 

A psychological thriller, Brother will follow Sam, Nolan and Melody,  three siblings who are brought back together after their brother’s car is found at the bottom of a lake. When shared trauma finds its way back to the surface, they’ll be forced to deconstruct their memories to determine if their childhood home is haunted or if they’re being hunted.
