Ontario has an unofficial Halloween town & it transforms in spooky season

Spooky season is around the corner and one region, in particular, goes all out every year. Elora and Fergus are bringing back their annual Monster Month and it’s a marathon of all things Halloween!

As September gives way to October, these charming historic towns start to resemble Halloween towns with spooky creatures around every corner.

Even the heritage homes that are so whimsical in the summertime seem to have a “haunted” vibe as the leaves change colour.

This September, spooky season will kick off with an Enchanted Forest event in Fergus, featuring music, magic, and artscapes in a real forest.

Ghost walks and lantern tours in both towns will give you an in-depth tour of their spooky history.

The fun truly begins in October with a Pumpkin Day event on October 7th – you’ll be carving jack-o-lanterns to take home and put on your porch!

Other events include the enchanted Psychic Faire and Totally 80s Halloween Party.

A fall festival and artisan market will take place at the Fieldstone Barn in Elora on October 14th and 15th.

Visitors and locals can look forward to the return of Elora’s Monster March Parade on October 21st.

This year’s parade will be bigger and better than ever. All are encouraged to wear their costumes and participate in the contests, which includes the all-new Wicked Wagons contest this year.

Finally, there is the Monster Mash party and Halloween Haunt Street Walk on October 28th, a haunted walk in downtown Fergus with treats for kids, dancing witches, and live music.

Ghouls and ghosts from all over are invited to the festivities — you can see the full Monster Month calendar here.

Happy Halloween!
