HIT THE LINKS

The results are in, and Alberta is home to 14 of the top 100 golf courses in Canada. What’s more- some of the absolute best are free to play! But, we’re just going to take this as a reminder to hit out local course until we’re ready to drop the big bucks in the Rockies.

GO FOR A DIP

Four swimming pools around Edmonton have officially reopened with some new guidelines in place. If you wanted to enjoy some lap swimming or even just splashing around, you can now pencil it in! It’s too bad we’re more comfortable on ice than in water.

LEARN ABOUT ANIMALS

If a quick canoe trip isn’t your thing, then maybe a trip to the Edmonton Valley Zoo is. Mask up and go educate yourself on animal conservation efforts. Or, just stare are crazy exotic animals (except the monkeys) and try to get them to stare back at you. We recommend a bit of both.

SHOP HEALTHY AND LOCAL

Want to hit a farmers market this weekend? Well, you should mix the brand new Al Fresco Market on 104th Street into the lineup. With quite a few vendors and growing weekly, this is a great stop on your weekend errands trip.

CHECK OUT SOME ART

Knock on wood that the worst of the summer storms are over for Edmonton. But if we do run into a rainy day this week, you should spend a few hours at the Art Gallery of Alberta one afternoon. Plus, the exhibitions range from early Rembrandt works to up and coming contemporary artists.

When: Open Thursday to Sunday
Where: 2 Sir Winston Churchill Square

EXPLORE EDMONTON’S WATERWAYS

VISIT THE UKRAINIAN VILLAGE

The Ukrainian Village outside of Edmonton is open for summer! But this time around, the actors won’t be in character. We’re surprisingly cool with that since it means we get to walk around a heritage village and ask stupid questions that we wouldn’t have otherwise.

Where: Highway 16 E

TAKE A BREATHER IN THE ROCKIES

We think that since the Fairmont Resorts at Lake Louise, Banff and Jasper all landed on Travel and Leisure’s top 10 destination resorts in Canada, then maybe it’s worth splurging on a weekend trip to one of them. Double down with a round of golf and really live the Albertan mountain high life.
