8 things to do in Edmonton this weekend (February 28-March 1)
Whoa, it’s almost March. We’re suckers for spring, so we’re in a good mood. With so many great things to do in Edmonton this weekend, we have a feeling things will flow right into the new month without feeling too confusingly Leap Year-ish at all.
Here are 8 things to do this weekend in Edmonton.
Sunridge is introducing a new option for adult skiers in 2020. Every Friday starting on January 3, you can enjoy great local craft beers while night skiing. It’s the perfect way to get any weekend started, we think. Just don’t mix the two too much, you know?
When: Fridays throughout March
Where: Sunridge Ski Area, 10980 17 Street
The Ice Castles would definitely be appropriate as some ice wizard’s lair in the arctic. But, we get to experience it right here at home instead. Score one for being a super cold city in the winter!
When: Ends March 15
Where: Hawrelak Park, 9330 Groat Rd NW
Started in 2012, SkirtsAFire is Edmonton’s first and only multidisciplinary festival to showcase women performers. Talks, performances and exhibitions will be running throughout the festival, so check it out!
When: On until Sunday, March 8
Where: Various venues
Cost: Varies per event
A new musical is coming to Citadel Theatre! As You Like It is a retelling of the classic Shakespeare play with a little bit of Beatles flair. Ok, a lot of flair, especially because it’s set in Vancouver in the 60s.
When: Showtimes until Sunday, March 15
Where: Citadel Theatre, 9828 101 A Avenue
Cost: Varies per performance
There are quite a few solid exhibitions in the AGA this month. However, we’d be lying if we said that we weren’t most interested in Nests for the End of the World, which is quite literally exactly what is sounds like. How contemporary!
When: Throughout March
Where: Art Gallery of Alberta, 2 Sir Winston Churchill Sq
This is a bit of a random concert, but why would we pass up on the chance to see “Sandstorm” live? We wouldn’t.
When: Saturday, February 29
Where: Union Hall, 6240 99 St NW
Even us downtown folk need a refreshing farmers’ market here and there. Stop by for farm-fresh eats, wine, and tons of treats. We’ll be cruising the jewellery booths.
When: Sunday, March 1
Where: GWG Building, 10299 97 St NW
We’re always down for some nose-snort laughing, especially on the weekend! Come see Erica Rhodes of Modern Family, Veep, and New Girl as she teases some giggles out of ya.
When: Sunday, March 1
Where: Rick Bronson’s, 8882 170 St NW Unit #1646
We’re feeling some comedy and maybe a ski hill beer, but that’s just us. Which of these things to do in Edmonton this weekend will you be hitting up?
