Things To Do

8 things to do in Edmonton this week (March 2-6)

Via Art Gallery of Alberta

New week, new month, new plans! Let’s tackle it together, Edmonton! Friday will be back before you know it. To kick off March, we’ve got art, fresh air and beer. So, so much beer, which, coincidentally, is exactly how we like it. Here are 8 things to do in Edmonton this week.

A new musical is coming to Citadel Theatre! As You Like It is a retelling of the classic Shakespeare play with a little bit of Beatles flair. Ok, a lot of flair, especially because it’s set in Vancouver in the 60s.

When: Until Sunday, March 15th
Where: Citadel Theatre,  9828 101 A Avenue
Time: See times here
Cost: Varies per performance

The Ice Castles would definitely be appropriate as some ice wizard’s lair in the arctic. But, we get to experience it right here at home instead. Score one for being a super cold city in the winter!

When: Until March 15th
Where: Hawrelak Park, 9330 Groat Rd NW
Time: See times here
Cost: $13.99-$17.99

Start the month off right with this dream-pop quintet from Vancouver. And to further clarify, this is more ‘dance your face off’ dream-pop than ‘sit in your room and cry’, which makes it that much more fun live!

When: Sunday, March 7th
Where: The Aviary, 9314 111 Ave NW
Time: 8 pm
Cost: $10

Funny name for a relatively straightforward event. CRAFT Beer Market will be hosting a night of sips and bites, and with 100 different beers on tap. Perfect for finding that summer beer before crunch time.

When: Tuesday, March 4
Where: 10013 101A Ave
Time: 4 pm – 7 pm
Cost: $15

He’ll “be back” … or maybe he won’t be, we honestly just needed a way to work that in to this article somehow. Arnold and his league of extraordinary gentlemen and women will be in Edmonton this week, discussing the power of marketing, neotiatiation, money moves and motivation. You don’t want to miss seeing the Schwarz in the flesh, guys!

When: Thursday, March 5th
Where: 9797 Jasper Ave NW
Time: 8 am – 5 pm
Cost: $97+

There are quite a few solid exhibitions in the AGA this month. However, we’d be lying if we said that we weren’t most interested in Nests for the End of the World, which is quite literally exactly what it sounds like. How contemporary!

When: All Month
Where: Art Gallery of Alberta, 2 Sir Winston Churchill Sq
Time: See times here
Cost: $14

Sunridge is introducing a new option for adult skiers in 2020. Every Friday, you can enjoy great local craft beers while night skiing. It’s the perfect way to get any weekend started, we think. Just don’t mix the two too much, you know?

When: Friday, March 6th
Where: Sunridge Ski Area, 10980 17 Street
Time: 6 pm – 11 pm
Cost: $12-$35

Started in 2012, SkirtsAFire is Edmonton’s first and only multidisciplinary festival to showcase women performers. Talks, performances and exhibitions will be running throughout the festival, so check it out!

When: Until Sunday, March 8
Where: Various venues
Time: See times here
Cost: Varies per event
