Well, even if you don’t celebrate it, you’ve got to give it up for Thanksgiving giving us a long weekend, and an extended list of things to do in Edmonton. Are we going to be doing anything important, aside from overeating? Not sure, let’s see what’s in store and find out.

Here are 8 things to do this long weekend in Edmonton.

Luke Combs

Luke Combs represents the return to the big, bad country superstars of the 90s. We guess that it’s long overdue, since the resale prices for a ticket to his sold out show at Rogers Place are sky high.

When: Friday, October 11
Where: Rogers Place
Tickets: $320 and up

Edmonton Eskimos

For some reason, watching football and enjoying the Thanksgiving long weekend just goes hand in hand. Don’t miss out this Saturday, when the Eskimos face off against the BC Lions.

When: Saturday, October 12
Where: Commonwealth Stadium
Tickets: $22 and up

Toy Story 4: The IMAX Experience

If you feel like postponing spooky season, then this is the perfect way to do so. Catch Woody and the gang as they embark on yet another adventure. Of course, is thinking about toys having the ability to feel spooky in itself? We leave the answer up to you.

When: Showtimes throughout the weekend
Where: Telus World of Science
Tickets: $9.95

Oh, you thought we wouldn’t include all the spooky stuff going down this month? Yeah right. DARK is Fort Edmonton’s transformation into a variety of haunted houses, roving entertainment, and scare zones. Scary!

When: On throughout the weekend
Where: Fort Edmonton
Tickets: $40

Tickets: $35, $70 for a combined ticket with DARK

The Oddities Show and Sale

According to their Facebook page “There’s a reason this one is in October because things are going to get weird!”. Say no more, we’re sold, let’s buy some weird stuff.

When: Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13
Where: Strathcona Antique Mall

Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood at Metro Cinema

We think this is a great way to spend one evening this week. Not only do you get to check out the new Tarantino film, you can also support an independent movie theatre!

When: Showtimes throughout the weekend
Where: Metro Cinema
Cost: $13

Edmonton Rock and Gem Show

Need an orange tinted crystal to match the fall season? You are guaranteed to find one at this massive gem show. We’re going to try and find a dark brown crystal in the shape of an old coke bottle.

When: On until Saturday, October 13
Where: Alberta Aviation Museum

There you have it, Edmonton! All of our top picks for the things to do this long weekend in the city. Personally, we’re going to eat too much food at our relatives place then go recover at the movie theatre. How about you?
