8 things to do in Edmonton this long weekend (Feb 14-17)
We’ve got a big weekend ahead of us, folks. Valentine’s Day tomorrow, Family Day on Monday… looks like our list of things to do has got a high bar to clear. Well, we didn’t do show jumping for 8 years for no reason. Let’s get out there and strut our stuff! There are plenty of great things to do in Edmonton this long weekend, so you won’t waste a second.
Here are 8 things to do in Edmonton this long weekend.
Edmonton’s premier wine festival had over 50 wineries last year, and this year we’re confident that it’s going to be just as big. Go learn about biodynamic wine or something fun like that. Heck, maybe pick up a bottle for after dinner?
When: Friday, February 14 and Saturday, February 15
Where: Edmonton Convention Centre, 9797 Jasper Ave
When’s the last time you went to a magic show? For us, it was about a decade when we saw David Copperfield with our family in London. We wish we could remember it (curse you, aging!).
When: Showtimes Friday, February 14 through Sunday, February 15
Where: Winspear Centre, 4 Sir Winston Churchill Square
Cost: $32 and up
Edmonton’s largest winter festival has been going on for the past few days. But, this weekend is the end, so expect them to go all out with events and entertainment. If you haven’t checked out this fest that takes over Hawrelak Park, it should be a must-visit pick.
When: On throughout the weekend
Where: Hawrelak Park, 9330 Groat Road NW
Cost: Free to attend!
Head down to Fort Edmonton Park for an evening that centres around a late 19th-century seance. This is a great option for those of you looking for something a little different this Valentine’s Day. Who says you have to be normal and boring? Not us!
When: Showtimes Friday, February 14 and Saturday, February 15
Where: Fort Edmonton Park
We waste so much money on coffee that it’s not even funny. So, learning how to make one of the least expensive versions of great coffee should be at the top of our to-do list. Maybe we’ll swing by this month and finally commit.
When: Sunday, February 16
Where: Transcend Coffee, 9570 76 Avenue NW
This is a one-night only EDM festival going down on Sunday. Feel like the long weekend is the perfect time to turn up? Then Dillon Francis, Keys n Krates, and a few other DJs can hep you out.
When: Sunday, February 16
Where: Edmonton Convention Centre, 9797 Jasper Ave NW
Cost: $110 and up
A new musical is coming to Citadel Theatre! As You Like It is a retelling of the classic Shakespeare play with a little bit of Beatles flare. Ok, a lot of flare, especially because it’s set in Vancouver in the 60s. Hot tip- Sunday’s matinee performance is pay what you can.
When: Showtimes start Saturday, February 15
Where: Citadel Theatre, 9828 101 A Avenue
Cost: Varies per performance
While the RAM is usually closed on Mondays, they will be open this long weekend! What’s more, from 10AM-7PM (practically all day), admission is free! Going to be a very busy day, but hey, it’s hard to pass up a free trip to the museum.
When: Monday, February 17
Where: Royal Alberta Museum, 9810 103A Avenue NW
Cost: Free to attend
There you have it folks, our list of the best things to do this long weekend in Edmonton. Catch us at the museum on Monday freaking out over all the cool displays.
