Let’s face facts- we’re running out of great camping weekends. Make the most of the summer by getting out of the city for a couple of days this weekend, and use this guide to point you in the right direction.

The Perseids are going to be out in full force for the next little while. Even if you don’t go camping, it’s worth staying up late/getting up early to catch them soaring through the sky. If you’re lucky, you can see anywhere from 50 to 100 an hour.

The historic Rossdale Power Plant has opened its doors for tours this summer. We don’t know about you, but we’re weirdly drawn to large scale industrial buildings. Especially when they’re now defunct. This might just be our top pick this weekend.

The Oilers didn’t have the best luck in the playoffs this year. It’s a bummer, especially because we’re hosting the actual finals. While we wait for next season, we’re going to take our minds off the NHL with a screening of Slap Shot at the Metro Cinema.

Big Brother Canada has opened up the application process for Season 9. So, if you’re ready to subject yourself to an Orwellian reality for a few weeks, the chance has come around once more. Who knows, it could be a pretty fun time.
