UNCOVER A HIDDEN BAR

Turns out, Edmonton is home to some amazing hidden bars and speakeasies. Between the incredible interiors, great drinks, and fun atmosphere, these are the perfect options for grabbing a little nightcap after a dinner or something.

WATCH AN EDMONTON OILERS GAME

In a sporty relationship? Well then, you can’t go wrong with a trip to Rogers Place for an Oilers game! Especially if (fingers crossed) they make it into the playoffs once more. We’ve got high hopes, that’s for sure.

When: Games throughout April (at least)
Where: 10220 104 Avenue NW
Cost: Varies

TAKE A TRIP TO THE GARDEN

Not sporty, but definitely outdoorsy. The U of A Botanic Garden is gearing up to open for the spring, and is an amazing way to see some beautiful flora without, you know, hopping on a plane or driving out to the mountains. Our top pick for a walking date.

When: Opens this spring
Where: Parkland County, Alberta
Cost: $18.75

SEE WHAT’S NEW AT EDMONTON VALLEY ZOO

But, the Edmonton Valley Zoo is also right up there for spring date ideas in Edmonton. Especially since admission is reduced throughout April, keeping a bit more money in your pocket for a fun accessory or a drink while you’re down there.

When: Open throughout the spring
Where: 13315 Buena Vista Road
Cost: $10.95+

DO SOME STARGAZING

Elk Island is a staple pick for an outdoorsy date option any time of year, but particularly nice in the spring. Go for a stroll, try and spot some bison, then hang out after the sun goes down for an incredible stargazing experience.

When: Open throughout the spring
Where: 54401 Range Road 203, Fort Saskatchewan
Cost: $7.90 for admissions

WATCH A PLAY

Ok, time for some more artsy options. First up is the Citadel Theatre, which has brought back live plays in a big way, and is showing a wide variety of shows throughout the spring. We must admit, dressing up, seeing a play, then grabbing a drink after is always a good idea.

When: Showtimes throughout the spring
Where: 9828 101 A Avenue
Cost: Varies

OR A MOVIE

Of course, we can’t just skip over the classic dinner and a movie option, either. For something a bit more romantic, we suggest seeing what’s on at the Citadel Theatre, which shows everything from recent releases to cult classics to stuff we’ve never even heard about!

When: Showtimes throughout the spring
Where: 8712 109 Street
Cost: $13 for GA

ENJOY THE ART GALLERY OF ALBERTA

And to complete the set, know that the AGA has got a serious amount of stuff to check out in the spring. In addition to the ongoing exhibitions, two more are set to join the party this April. For those counting at home, that’s 10 temporary exhibitions and installations on view!

When: Open throughout April
Where: 2 Sir Winston Churchill Square
Cost: $14

WILD HEART COLLECTIVE SUMMER SERIES

For our final set of options, we’re looking forward a little bit. Known for their Al Fresco on 4th series, Wild Heart is also doing the 124 Grand Market once more! It combines vendors, extended patios, and even live entertainment, making it a triple threat for a spring date idea.

When: Starts May 12th
Where: Locations around Edmonton
Cost: Free to attend!

VISIT FORT EDMONTON PARK

The already iconic destination got a major renovation last year, and this is its first full season back! Family-friendly options that double as date ideas are few and far between, but we definitely think Fort Edmonton Park is a great example of it.

When: Opens Saturday, May 21st
Where: 7000 143 Street NW
Tickets: TBD

GLOWING KAYAK EXPERIENCE

And last but not least, the Glowing Kayak Experience that has taken over social media this past year or so. We have to admit, floating around in a glowing kayak sounds like the perfect date idea for those of us that have done it all around the city, so check it out if you’re feeling that way.

When: Slated to open this June
Where: Directions here
Cost: $70+

Those are our spring date ideas around Edmonton this year, folks! Inside or out, we hope that you can make the most of this amazing city.
