It’s been a chilly few days in Edmonton, but we’re hoping that that will all be behind us come Sunday. Both figuratively and literally, since the temperature is going to be back in the normal range by the end of the weekend. That means indoor and outdoor activities are a go, folks.

CHECK OUT A CONTEMPORARY ART FESTIVAL
The Chinook Series is a local art festival highlighting a variety of different forms. The Edmonton Fringe Fest has joined forces with Expanse Festival and Sound Off, and offers everything from contemporary dance to plays written for American Sign Language.

HEAD TO THE ZOO
That’s right folks, the Edmonton Public Zoo has officially reopened! While the indoor exhibits are closed for the foreseeable future, you’ll still be able to enjoy all the outdoor ones. Watching red pandas zoom around? Yes please!

WATCH A HOCKEY GAME
The Oilers had to postpone their 3-game series against Montreal, which makes their game against Toronto this Saturday that much more exciting. Grab some delicious food (see our picks below) and get ready to cheer them on.

OR A NEW SERIES ABOUT HOCKEY
Whatever doubts we had about the new Disney+ series The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers were put to bed this week. We spoke with Dylan Playfair, son of Jim Playfair (a former NHLer) about playing Coach T, who now leads the ultra-competitive Ducks team. Turns out, old and new fans alike have big things to look forward to.

DO SOME STARGAZING
One great part about the spring? Amazing sunsets and wide-open skies. Make the most of it with a trip to Elk Island National Park- try a trail in the afternoon, then head back to your car for some hot cocoa and a quick peek at the stars above after sunset.

HIT THE SLOPES
We guess that one good thing about a last little bit of snow is a last little bit of skiing. Snow Valley and Rabbit Hill are both open this weekend, so if you’re craving some last-minute shredding, this is pretty much your last chance.

ENJOY A DOME DINING EXPERIENCE
The latest dome dining experience in Edmonton switches up the chefs each week for extra excitement. If you still haven’t tried dome dining, we think spring might just be the best time to do it. It’s a little cold, but not enough that you’ll be freezing walking from your car to the table.

CHECK OUT NEW PUBLIC ART
Some absolutely massive inflatable sculptures have arrived in downtown Edmonton. Reaching up to 12 metres high, these gentle giants are a nod to a 1973 animated movie called Fantastic Planet. Check them out as they playfully explore and lounge around.

Yelp’s recent list of the top places to try in Edmonton this year is a far cry from ‘insider’ lists, but we think that’s a good thing. After all, you don’t have to spend a ton of money to get amazing food, you just have to know where to go. So, consider this like a cheat code to get you started.

SUPPORT LOCAL AND LEARN A NEW DISH
If takeout seems too straightforward, you can always try your hand at cooking something new yourself. On one hand, check out local farmers’ markets and plan it around cooking classes from places like Sorrentino’s.
