WestJet partners with Hawaii to offer pre-flight tests & no 14-day quarantine for tourists
Already dreaming of a beach somewhere? We feel your pain. Luckily, WestJet has teamed up with the state of Hawaii to offer pre-flight COVID-19 testing. In turn, this means that tourists won’t be subjected to a 14-day quarantine once they get there.
The plan is straightforward, but there are a few catches. First off, the test (from WestJet partner DynaLIFE) costs $150 to get and is paid for by the passenger. And, the testing is currently only in Alberta but is open to all Canadian travellers. So, you need to fly into Alberta, get a negative test result, and then you’re good to go. Or, if youu’re Albertan, you’re pretty much good to go!
Happy to announce a partnership with the State of Hawaii and laboratory DynaLIFE in Alberta, offering a pre-flight COVID-19 testing program for guests travelling to the Hawaiian Islands, which will exempt them from the mandatory quarantine. What’s more, the test requires a minimum of 24 hours before results will be ready. So, it’s a process, but it does mean you won’t have to sit in a hotel room all day once you get to your destination. WestJet currently has flights from Calgary to Honolulu and Maui available.
There are a few more things to consider, but this is a nice overview of what to expect. You can learn more about this offer on the WestJet website.
Other than that, safe travels folks, wherever the destination.
