We’ve got some tough news for the music lovers in the city. On Monday, the Edmonton Folk Fest made the difficult decision to cancel the festival yet again this year. This is now the second year in a row without Folk Fest in Edmonton, leaving a major hole in the city when it comes to live music. Here’s the scoop.

Basically, Folk Fest is worried that full vaccination rollouts in Canada won’t be available before the regular weekend (August 6th to 8th). And, since festivals of this size take months to properly plan, the organizers are just calling it off instead of leaving fans in the dark. It’s a responsible move, so we understand, even if we’re a little bummed about it.

On the plus side, Folk Fest is still planning to release virtual content throughout the summer, which is great for when you’re barbequing out back or doing some roadside exploration. And, if public restrictions allow it, they’ll also try to put on smaller events and experiences this August instead.

So, we’re going to keep our fingers crossed that we see Folk Fest this summer, even if it’s not in the usual format. If you’re feeling the same, you can learn more by clicking this link.
