Starbucks Canada announced on Monday afternoon that it will be making face masks mandatory for customers starting on September 14th. The new rule comes a few weeks after the same decision was made for American locations.

Importantly, the rule will apply regardless of any bylaws that might be in place for that location. So even if you’re living in a city or town that doesn’t have face mask rules right now, you’ll still need one if you want to enter a Starbucks for a drink.

Starbucks has recommended face masks since May, but this is the first time a rule has been announced. Of course, though who would rather not don a mask to get a coffee can still go through the drive-thru or order curbside pickup.
