Well, folks, NHL games are officially returning, which means that it’s time to check out the best sports bars around Edmonton to watch it all go down. Now, this year is going to be unlike any other (surprise), so a couple of notes. No matter how intense the games get, staying health-conscious should be priority number 1. Don’t forget about social distancing while you’re out and about.

And without further ado, here are some great sports bars for watching NHL games in Edmonton.

1ST RND

With one location in West Ed and one downtown, this is a super accessible option for those looking to catch an Oilers game. With pub grub, tons of TVs, and even a sports ticker, you can eat your heart out while never missing a second.

Hours: Vary per location
Where: West Edmonton Mall and 11248 104 Avenue NW

Billy Budd’s Lounge

This spot gets the award for the best name on the list. Yeah, we just made that award up and it’s completely arbitrary, but check this place out first before you disagree.

Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 10AM-1AM and Friday/Saturday, 10AM-3AM
Where: 9839 63 Avenue NW

CRAFT BEER MARKET

Not only is CRAFT a great pick for watching the game, but they’ve now got one of the best patios in the city to boot. So, we’re saying that game or not, this one is absolutely worth visiting. Plus, their happy hour menu is hard to beat this summer.

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 11AM-11PM, Friday/Saturday, 11AM-1AM, and Sunday, 11AM-10PM
Where: 10013 101A Avenue

Uncle Glenn’s

We’re recommending Uncle Glenn’s for a very specific reason- the wood-fired pizza. And, having been open since 1987, you know that this has been a neighbourhood gem for decades. Seriously, who even offers wood-fired pizzas outside of pizza places anymore? Crazy stuff.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 4 PM-2 AM, and Saturday, 3 PM-2 AM
Where: 7666 156 Street NW

Central Social Hall

This hip, industrial space downtown is perfect for when you want to watch a game with some friends. Plus, the reservation system ensures that you won’t be waiting in line outside. We suggest planning in advance for this one, but it’s worth it.

Hours: Monday to Wednesday, 11:30 AM-12 AM, Thursday/Friday, 11:30 AM-2 AM, Saturday, 10 AM-2 AM and Sunday, 10 AM-12 AM
Where: 10909 Jasper Avenue

Kelly’s Pub

While this is our top pick for catching a soccer game, it definitely works for hockey as well. Grab a pint of Guinness and spend the day alternating between MLS and the NHL. Between the two, you could easily spend an entire day.

Hours: Sunday to Wednesday, 12 PM-10 PM, Thursday, 12 PM-12 AM, and Friday/Saturday, 12 PM-2 AM
Where: 10156 104 Street NW

Hudsons

Hudsons is an absolutely classic spot for any sporting event. And like CRAFT, their happy hour deals right now are just incredible. Some beers, some wings, and some NHL excitement? That’s a trifecta we didn’t know we needed this summer.

Hours: Vary per location
Where: West Edmonton Mall and Whyte Avenue locations

Your House

Yup, we’re going with the cliched final pick, because it’s probably the one we’re going to take the most over the next few weeks. With so much hockey in store, we’re realizing that it would also be super easy to order pickup or delivery from any of these spots. That way we can still support local business without getting too rowdy. At least in public.

When: Whenever
Where: From any of the spots mentioned above!

And that’s our slightly modified guide on the best sports bars in Edmonton for the upcoming NHL games! We hope that you enjoy the next few weeks, because we know we will.
