Did you overindulge this holiday season? Us too, which is why we need to think about the best workout classes in Edmonton. Sure, we love the gym, but sometimes we need a class-based workout to kick start our health drive. Otherwise, we’re going to sit on our phones on a stationary bike for half an hour and call that a workout.
Not going to fly. Here are some workout classes in Edmonton you’ll actually want to go back to!
Hot yoga might sound daunting, but these folks have got classes for every kind of practitioner. Whether you need to sweat out the week or are looking to improve mobility, Metta Yoga has you covered. Try and make it to their Karma class, a by-donation option in support of local charities!
Where: 3751 99 Street and 4927 – 111 Avenue
Hive Fit Co. specializes in one of our favourite workouts- rowing. No seriously, rowing is a low-impact cardio option that also works tons of muscles at the same time. Plus, the efficacy of any sport-based workout is usually based on how much the competitive scene hates it. So it’s no coincidence that every rower we know despises rowing.
Where: 10343 Jasper Avenue
Nothing like a little spin class to sweat out the night before, hey? We like what’s going on at YEG Cycle, mostly because we want to feel as youthful as possible. As opposed to how we usually feel, which is about 10 years older than our real age.
Where: 10636 82 Avenue and 11653 Jasper Avenue
For those high energy folks out there, few workouts beat boxing. You’re punching stuff, you’re doing bodyweight exercises, you’re getting cardio… it’s a triple threat made even better by the fact that the person behind it is an 8-time world boxing champion. Don’t be intimated, though- the classes here are for every fitness level!
Where: 10251 109 Street NW
Edmonton’s first barre studio has become a fan favourite over the past year and a bit. If you’re unaware, barre combines elements of ballet, pilates and yoga and rolls them into one streamlined workout. Perfect for those that want to be as fit as possible on the dancefloor.
Where: 4211 106 Street and 11996 109a Avenue
XTherapy offers spin, barre and yoga classes. That’s not what we’re recommending them for, though. Nope, we think that their HIIT (high-intensity interval training) classes are perfect for those of you who want to get in fantastic shape as soon as possible. Don’t believe us? Try a class out!
Where: 10041 103 Street NW
