With the weather just getting better and better each week, we’re definitely starting to think about a little outdoor dining. So, we’ve rounded up some of the best patios in Edmonton to check out this spring, just in case you need it when the next sunny afternoon hits. From tucked-away spots to must-try names, we’ve got an idea for every mood.

Here are 10 great patios to visit in Edmonton this spring.

Editor’s Note: Due to the ongoing pandemic, local and provincial health restrictions may affect openings. Please check in with the business prior to visiting.

Leopold’s Tavern

We’ve got high hopes for Leopold’s, which has taken over a heritage building in the heart of Strathcona. Luckily, our coworkers in Calgary practically swear by their happy hour deals and the various poutines they’ve got to offer. We have to admit, curly fry poutine does seem like a forbidden fruit that we must taste.

Little Brick

Located in Riverdale, Little Brick offers a very relaxed atmosphere for enjoying a cup of coffee and a baked good. Or, swing by in the afternoon instead for a classic (yet refined) grilled cheese and some craft beer. Either way, you’ll be glad that you visited.

The Next Act

The first of a trio of side-by-side patios in Edmonton, all with their own special offerings. We think of The Next Act as like an elevated diner- the classics are available, but it’s the special menu items that will have you coming back for more.

Meat

Meanwhile, MEAT has more or less one thing on its mind- meat. Head here for hearty brisket sandwiches, fried chicken, and classic sides. Since this is a pretty robust meal, we think it pairs best after a day of activity, like a round of frisbee golf or a bike ride or something.

Pip

Finally, Pip’s brunch and dinner fare will have you feeling like you’re dining somewhere in SoHo. We think this spot is best enjoyed on a super sunny weekend morning, with a mimosa on the table and an eggs benedict on the way. Luckily, we’ve got a few of those to look forward to!

Campio Brewing Co.

A modern classic spot known for its great beer and pizza. This is definitely our top choice for those days where we finish work and would much rather have a laugh with our roommate instead of making a salad at home alone. Maybe that’s just us, though.

Café Bicyclette

A nice little full-service French cafe tucked away in the French cultural centre (fittingly). Swing by for a coffee and some brunch with a pal, or come 30 minutes later for lunch and opt for a beer instead. This is definitely one of our sleeper picks for the spring, so don’t go telling everybody.

Biera

One of the nicest restaurants in the city has, surprise, one of the nicest patios as well. While you might be more focused on the meal than your surroundings, you’ll still be grateful that you opted for an outdoor dining experience here.

Mercer Tavern

Back to the not so relaxed stuff. The ever-popular Mercer Tavern unveiled a new patio last summer, and has been a great choice for when you’re not quite sure what you want but you know that you want something good. At least, that’s how we approach it.

Clementine

Probably our number one pick off of this list. Not necessarily because the patio is nice (frankly, it’s hard to beat the interior). Instead, we just know that sitting down for a cold, expertly made cocktail during a spring sunset will be a tough experience to beat.
