No one told us adulting would be this hard. Sure you can buy booze, drive, and get into bars legally, but sometimes all we want is someone to praise us when we take a nap. Apart from nap times, our childhood was full of play which is usually lost as we mature so, in the spirit of fun, we’ve partnered with our good pals at GRETA Bar to provide you with a list of indoor activities that spark your inner child.
GRETA Bar is downtown Edmonton’s best source of outrageous fun. With over 50 arcade games, a DJ booth, 9,000 square feet of space, and international food served out of a food truck, it’s the perfect place to let loose after a long day’s work. GRETA has recently launched its corporate booking packages for the rest of the year. It’s the perfect time to book in your office Christmas party or next corporate event!
Fun and fitness? We’re in! Fitset Ninja has a 10,000 square ft obstacle course facility where you can revisit your younger more playful years. You’ll be surprised at what a workout playing can be.
Drop-in or plan your visit on Adults Only Night which happens on the second Thursday of most months. There’s a bar, music and interactive science displays based on an adult-oriented theme. Plus, the whole science centre is open for you to explore together while sipping on some adult beverages. Don’t miss their current exhibit Marvel: Universe of Superheroes, and the new show, Great Bear Rainforest, which is narrated by our fave Vancouver heartthrob, Ryan Renolds.
Crack the Egg (or Pop the Popcorn), Poison, Bum Wars, if these games ring a bell, then you’ve most likely jumped on a trampoline as a kid. Bring back that sensation in your tummy when you feel weightless and reach new heights at Launch Pad. Not to mention, you’ll get a killer cardio workout.
Get your hands a little dirty at Viva Clayworks. You’ll be led through a crash course in wheel throwing where you produced a piece that will be glazed and fired for you to cherish. Their Date Nights bring you back to the days of messy art class where every piece you made was “art” in your parent’s eyes.
Remember those weekends in your childhood spent at the local arcade with friends, $5 worth of tokens, and a goal of hitting the “High Score” on Skeeball? GRETA Bar lets you relive those memories and lets you escape adulting with over 50 arcade games, sick playlists, food, and of course a bar- because we’re still actual adults.
Heart racing, neon paint, lasers beamin’, techno music bumpin’. Laser tag was probably the closest thing to a rave you experienced as a kid. It was also arguably one of the best birthday parties or outings we had as kids. This classic game of hide-and-seek with a high tech twist is for sure going to bring you back to the good ol’ days.
That concludes our list. Now go let that inner kiddie come out to play! Let us know which activities bring back the most memories for you.
