Guide: 5 beautiful weekend getaways to check out this fall
Escaping the city for a few days can be the very best way to unwind. Whether you’re looking for adventure, relaxation, a couples retreat, or a solo trip to the wilderness, Edmonton is spoiled with some wonderful fall weekend getaways nearby. So, with that in mind, we’ve teamed up with our friends at Strongbow to put together a list of our top picks.
Strongbow, after all, is a master of nature. The refreshingly dry taste of their Original Dry Cider is directly a result of the natural apples it is made with, making it an obvious choice to enjoy while exploring the outdoors on a fall getaway near Edmonton.
Here are 5 beautiful weekend getaways near Edmonton you should check out this fall.
Obviously, being surrounded by mountains means we’ve got to take full advantage of them. Sure, you can stay in a 5-star resort, but does that really feel like a fall getaway? Instead, nestle into nature and try out the new Glamping Tents at Mount Engadine. They’re cozy, isolated, and perfect for a true fall getaway from Edmonton. That being said, it’s around a 4.5-hour drive, so make sure you throw those Strongbow Ciders on ice before you hit the road.
Where: 1 Mount Shark Rd, Canmore
With 480 square foot log cabins, an impressively remote location, and plenty of adventure, this hidden gem is a fit for serious mountain lovers. Their secluded valley is actually protected as a Wildlands Park, so expect plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife in their natural habitat. Also, you’re only located about 15 minutes from Rock Lake, so canoeing is a top-notch option.
Where: Hinton, Alberta
Only 45 minutes north of Edmonton lies a great opportunity for a fall day trip. After all, it’s not that easy to get a full weekend getaway planned. Instead of worrying about an overnight stay, head up to Sprout Farms Apple Orchards. It’s a perfect date, great for a buddy adventure, and fun for the family. Finish the day off with a Strongbow and boom! You’ve got the full fall adventure.
Where: 56307 Lily Lake Rd, Bon Accord, AB
Now, the Edmonton Nordic Spa is on its way sometime during 2020. In the meantime, you’ll have to get your hot-cold relaxation at the Kananaskis location. That shouldn’t stress you out, though, since it’s pretty damn incredible. The place gorgeous at any time of the year and every single picture taken of it is absolute fire. Also, the chilly fall air makes those hot pools feel even better.
Where: 1 Centennial Dr, Kananaskis, AB
This year-round destination is perfect for a fall getaway somewhat near Edmonton. The cabins are secluded, the nature is incredible, and the fall foliage is about as Instagrammable as it gets. Not bad at all, folks.
Where: Clearwater County
This list of fall getaways from Edmonton is just the tip of the iceberg for fall escapes in Alberta. But hey, clear your schedule, throw a case of Strongbow Original Dry Ciders into the trunk, and hit the road for your next fall destination. With that combo, we promise that you’ll find an adventure to remember.
