Edmonton is getting a massive Oilers-themed snow maze & here’s where

Don’t you just love fall and winter? Hockey season is back, so are winter activities! And for the first time ever, Edmonton is getting a massive snow maze downtown. But not only is it a maze, it is also Oilers-themed! So let’s get into the details.

The Ice District’s Winter SoltsICE event series is kicking off on December 23. The series will include 10 days of winter adventure and entertainment for the entire family, and according to organizers, it features a variety of special events including a massive snow maze in the Fan Park, skating with Santa in the Plaza, the Oilers Skills Competition, Oilers and Oil Kings hockey, an epic New Year’s Eve celebration and more.

The snow maze is currently being developed in Fan Park, which is directly next to Rogers Place.

So how big is the maze?

It is going to be 75’x75’, and will be Oilers-themed! Not only that, there will be multiple photo opportunities, a snow slide, and a locker room.

“Winter adventure awaits and there is Snow Way Out!” states Ice District.

Earlier this month, OEG Sports & Entertainment announced a new Fan Park in ICE District that would “create a vibrant multi-use space to host a wide variety of public events, activities and live entertainment.”

The new Fan Park will be located on the parcel of land immediately east of Rogers Place between 102 Street and 101 Street.

“Upon completion, the Fan Park will feature a large, fenced, programmable space, art installations and greenery—all designed to accommodate festivals, sports and a variety of other events that celebrate the uniqueness of Oil Country, its citizens and Downtown Edmonton,” stated a release. “From public events, exhibitions and live entertainment, to youth hockey programming on portable outdoor rinks in the winter and ball hockey in the spring and summer, the Fan Park will be a 12-months-a-year, programmable space that provides additional opportunities for outdoor entertainment and activities in the downtown core.”

At the time, they stated that construction is underway with plans to host the first event in the new Fan Park this month.

Snow Way Out opens on December 23 and tickets go on sale on Monday, December 12.
