Edmonton Oilers to host Indigenous Celebration with special guests tonight

Do you have plans tonight? Throw on a jersey and head to Rogers Place for an extraordinary event where Edmontonians will be encouraged to celebrate culture, talent and creativity!

In recognition of communities, players and history, the Edmonton Oilers have announced an Indigenous Celebration Night, featuring performances, local artists, business owners and more.

Hosted by Ashley Callingbull, a trailblazing model, actress and motivational speaker from Enoch Cree Nation, Edmonton’s home team will take on the Panthers – but not without a little commotion in favour of distinguished leaders and educators.

In addition, players will also be wearing their limited-edition Turtle Island jerseys during their pre-game warmup – which was designed by Edmonton-based Indigenous artist Lance Cardinal – which will be on sale with net proceeds going to the Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society and Inner City Youth Development Association.

“The Edmonton Oilers are proud of their long-standing relationship with the Indigenous peoples of Oil Country, and the club will never forget the history and communities of the land they play on,” said Tim Shipton, Executive Vice President, OEG Sports & Entertainment in a press release.

“We are honoured to celebrate the Indigenous people and communities across Northern Alberta and the Northwest Territories, and we are ever grateful to have such a passionate and supportive Indigenous fanbase.”

If you’d like to check it out, tickets are available online now, however, if you’re unable to make it, but would like to still participate somehow, you can purchase a 50/50 raffle ticket – which will be held in support of Spirit North and their work to empower Indigenous youth to be unstoppable in sport, school and life.

Enjoy and (if you’re purchasing a 50/50) good luck! It’s going to be a good night!
