Edmonton is hosting the World Rugby Sevens for the first time ever

This is an absolute bombshell, Edmonton! For the first time ever, the HSBC Rugby Sevens will be coming to the city, showcasing the best players in the world. This global event is notorious for having some of the most dedicated fans in the world, and we can’t wait for it to come to Edmonton!

If you’re unfamiliar, the HSBC World Rugby Sevens is an annual tournament that takes place in cities across the globe. Alongside Vancouver, Edmonton joins Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai and Cape Town as the 2021 host cities. Vancouver and Edmonton are actually on back-to-back weekends, so it will be interesting to see how many superfans come over to check it out.

The games will last a weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and will take place at the Commonwealth Stadium. Thanks to Alberta’s reopening plan, the organizers will be able to have some 31,000 fans in attendance. So yeah, if you’re hoping to hear the roar of the crowd once more, we can’t recommend this enough.

The HSBC Rugby Sevens have been a staple event in Vancouver for years now, and we can’t wait to see Edmonton join the fun! Ticket prices and more information will be available in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
