The Edmonton Group Chat: What your friends are talking about this week (Sept. 15)

Welcome to Edmonton’s group chat, your weekly roundup of what’s trending, what’s new, and what’s actually worth talking about. Here, we can get the hottest events and news right to your phone and group chat without any issues. If your friends are talking about it, you’re going to find everything you need to know right in this article.

As September has settled into a steady rhythm, Edmonton is getting back into the swing of things: back to school, back to work, and back into the bustling city. We’ve collected some of the biggest news from in and around the city, including birthday deals and weather updates we’ve been wanting since June.

Without further ado, let’s jump into all the details.

What’s trending, Edmonton?

West Edmonton Mall is getting some great deals for its birthday!

Since Sept. 15, 1981, the mall has continuously grown with new stores, restaurants, and fresh attractions to check out. To celebrate its 45th year, the mall is going to be holding a series of events and activities, as well as some exciting contests and giveaways.

One of the biggest deals is coming tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 16, with $9.95 admission to Galaxyland Powered by Hasbro, $9.95 lane rentals at Ed’s Bowling, and $9.95 races at DRIVE for one day only.

Finally, summer is coming… in September

If you can even believe it, according to Environment Canada, this week ahead of us will be one of the only ones in the past few months without any rain.

On Saturday and Sunday, Edmonton will even be seeing a high of 24°C alongside crisp, cool nights with lows of 9°C and 8°C.

Or, maybe you want to embrace the romantic fall season!

As we head into autumn, people are looking for more and more fun date ideas in Edmonton. Whether you’re looking for a corn maze, an intimate concert experience, or a scary drive-in movie, we rounded up a whole bunch of ideas to last you through the season.

Including things like the Edmonton Corn Maze, drive-in movies, and pumpkin patch experiences, we’ve definitely got you covered.

There’s also more fall-related fun for the entire family

If you want a more family-friendly activity, you might want to check out Prairie Gardens and Adventure Farm, a u-pick farm open during the summer and fall seasons. According to the farm, it’s been open since 1956 and continues to be one of the Edmonton area’s best agricultural hot spots.

It also hosts a ton of seasonal festivals like its fall festival: Fall-O-Ween, which features a whole load of things to do, see, and eat, all in the name of the season.

And you won’t want to miss this one-day fitness pop-up

Graveyard Fitness Club is popping up in Edmonton for one day only, combining the fall season and workout classes to bring the city a whole new Halloween-themed experience.

Expect sessions ranging from Zumba to strength and conditioning alongside after-class cocktails and mocktails to keep the blood pumping. If you’re looking to get an early start to the Halloween fun, this September event will definitely do the trick.
