A massive festival season is kicking off in this Western Canadian city & here’s the line up

When we say Edmonton is living up to its title as the Festival City of Canada, we mean it quite literally. The Albertan capital has a festival for just about everything. So we’ve curated a list of six of the most intriguing and fun fests the city is hosting this summer.
From appreciating Caribbean art to laughing your asses off at comedic acts to experiencing an extravaganza of rides, games, music, and adventure, the list has something for everyone. Take a look—

Calling it one big fat party might be a more apt description of the fest. With major carnival vibes, the festival brings 10 whole days of games and rides, live concerts, Indigenous art and performances, a giant BBQ spread and a lot more. The highlight for us is the fireworks that are set to sparkle in the night sky. Oh, and there’s a Kids Town too, so get the little ones along.

When: July 22 – July 31, 2022

Edmonton Heritage Festival

With 60 different cultures from across the globe, 50 outdoor pavilions and a good 25 stages, the festival is a true celebration of Canadian multiculturalism. From foot-tapping music to stellar performances to incredible arts and craft to lip-smacking delight, this is your chance to immerse in the many rich cultures in Canada.

When: July 30 – August 1, 2022
Where: Hawrelak Park

Folk Musical Fest

Relaxing on a lawn chair on the grassy slopes of Gallegher, singing alone our fave bands and tunes and sipping on a well-deserved, cold brew. This isn’t just a summer fantasy but more of a summer tradition with Folk Musical Fest. And amidst the killer musical performances by renowned (and even less renowned) international brands, you can grab grubs from varied international cuisines.

When: August 4 – August 7, 2022
Where: Gallagher Park

Cariwest Caribbean Arts Festival

Gear up for a major Caribbean festival with live entertainment, a Costume Extravaganza, the iconic parade, a Kids Korner and a lot more. And because no true Caribbean celebration is ever complete without some drool-worthy grubs, this one will have no dearth of them either.

When: August 5 – August 7, 2022
Where: Sir Winston Churchill Square

Edmonton Fringe Festival

As one of the oldest and largest fringe fests in North America, this one hardly needs an intro. Like past years, this year will bring some of the best local, national and international talent to the city. About 1,600 artists will put up some 1,200 shows in varied locations from main stages to local pubs. There will also be buskers and outdoor performances and many family-friendly and kids’ activities.

When: August 11 – August 21, 2022
Where: Old Strathcona and Whyte Avenue

The Great Outdoors Comedy Festival
