Downtown Seattle will host a series of “Welcome Back Weeks” this July & September

We all know that the pandemic has been incredibly hard on businesses. This is especially the case for Seattle’s downtown which has tons of closures. But Mayor Jenny Durkan wants to change that with a series of new initiatives geared towards helping small businesses downtown.

The initiative revolves around “Welcome Back Weeks” which will happen in July and September and include things like concerts and promotions. For now, details on “Welcome Back Weeks” are pretty slim but we do know that they’ll be modeled after CID’s Food Walks. So we’re excited to learn more as summer goes on.

When it comes to other support the city is also set to hand out $1.9 million in cash assistance through the Small Business Stabilization Fund. So here’s to hoping that support from the city and new incentives to get people downtown can help our city’s businesses thrive. Honestly, we don’t remember the last time we went downtown so a trip might just be in order.
