Distillery District’s iconic Winter Village opens this week with a magical ceremony

Toronto’s famous historic district is lighting up for the holidays! The Distillery District is kicking off its Winter Village with a Tree Lighting Ceremony this week and it’s going to be spectacular.

The breathtaking 50-foot-tall White Spruce tree will come alive with twinkling bright lights on Thursday, November 17th.

The celebration will be accompanied by carolers, special guests, and, of course, Santa Claus to commemorate the beginning of this special time of year.

There will be live entertainment in Trinity Square starting at 5 PM on the night of the ceremony, followed by the tree lighting at 6 PM.

This year’s Distillery Winter Village title sponsor is Parfums Christian Dior, who designed this year’s centrepiece tree and it promises to dazzle!

The tree will feature 400 custom midnight blue ornaments, 1,700 shiny and matte gold balls, 70,000 twinkling lights, and 1,000 custom Dior star charms.

November 17th is also the opening day of the Winter Village and entry is free all day long. The Village will remain open until December 31st.

Free entry to the village is available on weekdays and during the day on weekends from November 18th to December 23rd. However, tickets are required on weekend evenings.

In addition to the over 65 boutiques, cafes, restaurants, and galleries in the Distillery District, this year’s Winter Village will have all kinds of goodies to shop, breathtaking holiday ambiance, live entertainment like carollers and Santa’s elves, and of course, picture-perfect backdrops for photos.

Under a canopy of lights and in the dreamy Christmas atmosphere, you’ll get to explore rows and rows of food and shopping cabins offering specially curated seasonal items and gifts as well as delicious food.

There is plenty to see and do as you wander along the cobblestone streets with a warm beverage in hand, but most importantly, you’ll want to stop and admire the towering beauty of this majestic tree.

If you can’t wait for the holiday season to begin, be sure to mark this event on your calendar!
