A Dia de Los Muertos celebration is coming to the Seattle Center this month

Seattle Center’s Festál series has been busy these past few months. Most recently Seattleites got to experience TurkFest and in just a few weeks you can check out Dia de Los Muertos. Here’s what we know about this year’s festival.

The celebration will occur on Saturday, October 28th, and Sunday, October 29th from 11 AM to 6 PM at the Armory Food & Event Hall and Fisher Pavilion. Past events have included beautiful celebration of life displays, traditional dancers, crafts, and art among other things.

The celebration is both free and open to the public. What’s more, the celebration has been taking place at Seattle Center for 20 years! In 1998, a group of volunteers began their own Dia de Los Muertos in South Park and in 2003 it moved to the Center.

Today, volunteers who believe in preserving and sharing the celebration continue their mission of “enriching the cultural value to the community and the Puget Sound at large.” So, if you’re curious to learn about other cultures and their celebrations, be sure to mark your calendar for this.
