This park in Metro Vancouver was once a fort & it has heritage apple trees

Fortunately for Vancouver residents, you don’t have to go far to experience the magic of fall in BC. And if we had to pick two things to do that best represent fall, it would be exploring historic sites and apple orchards – both of which Derby Reach Regional Park has to offer.

Situated in Langley Township on the banks of the Fraser River, the park is home to meandering trails through heritage apple trees and historic remnants of the area’s pioneer days, according to the park’s website.

The regional park was originally a fort, and now connects to the Fort Langley National Historic Museum via the famed 4-km-long Fort-To-Fort Trail.

Those who wish to follow the trail can begin at the National Historic Museum or from the train crossing at Glover Road and Mavis Avenue, and make their way down the riverfront trail to the Houston Trail loop at the park. From there, visitors can head to the Edge Farm Trail for stunning views and a taste of those heritage apples.

The park’s trails are all family-friendly, and there are exhibits at the historic site to check out during your visit.

So there you have it, Vancouver. Another great day trip idea that’s well within arm’s reach!
