World’s largest sporting goods retailer to open its first location in BC this fall

If you’re relatively active or trying to get into a new sport, you’ve no doubt done your research about the best sporting goods stores and brands near you. And soon, those seeking everything from running shoes to multi-purpose outdoor backpacks can find them all at Decathlon Metrotown.

The Decathlon brand

The largest of its kind in the world, according to the brand, Decathlon is a sporting goods brand that covers all of the bases. Whether you’re looking for quality weatherproof gear to brave the outdoors or in-home gym equipment, Decathlon has you covered.

The brand currently has over 1,700 stores in over 60 countries worldwide, and now, its new Metrotown location will mark its first foray into BC.

“Metro Vancouver is an inspiring place to be,” says Guillaume Hautson, Regional Manager of British Columbia, Decathlon. “Along with other players, Decathlon will contribute to this landscape by making sports more accessible for Vancouverites.”

Along with its sought-after products, the brand is known for having in-store gyms and product test areas. So yes, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to ‘try before you buy!’

While the new 38,000-square-foot flagship store is expected to open next spring, shoppers can get a glimpse of all the store has to offer at its official pop-up, which will also be located in Metrotown across from the MUJI store.

The pop-up location will open in late October, with a special launch event scheduled for Halloweekend on Saturday, October 28th.

At the event, shoppers can peruse a selection of affordable rain jackets, ski and snowboarding gear, in addition to waterproof hiking boots and other waterproof accessories.

Other featured products include trekking and multi-purpose backpacks, road and trail running shoes, swimwear, and a dedicated space for road, mountain, and hybrid bikes.

The pop-up will run until the permanent flagship store opens in spring 2024, so rest assured you’ll have plenty of time to browse. The pop-up store will be open from 10 am to 9 pm from Monday to Saturday, and from 11 am to 7 pm on Sundays.
