Ready to “fall back” Canada? What to know about to know about daylight saving time

The air is chilly, the leaves are changing and it can all mean one thing: daylight saving time is coming to an end. Gone are the long days of summer but there is plenty to look forward to! Whether you’re planning for autumn festivities or are already thinking ahead to Christmas, here’s what to know about daylight saving time ending in Canada.

When does Daylight Saving end in 2024?

Most Canadians have been soaking in a little extra sun since March 10th, 2024.

According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, while not every Canadian area recognizes DST, the ones that do will experience the fall back on Sunday, November 3rd, 2024 at 2 am local time.

This means some Canadians will gain one hour and will see the sunrise and sunset earlier, therefore shortening the amount of daylight we get!

If you don’t love the days getting darker sooner, just think of it this way: the evenings will be extra cozy and the Netflix binges will be much more justified.

Most clocks on devices make the time switch on their own but if you have to do it manually, you won’t have to do it again until Sunday, March 9th, 2025.

If you’re interested in knowing which areas recognize DST this helpful chart below breaks it all down!
