Studio 54 is coming back to life in this far-out concert experience in Calgary

Nights out used to be fun. A couple of decades back, you didn’t have to worry about being filmed, and the only thing on your mind was to dance, dance, dance. We could only imagine how the disco era felt, dancing under disco balls and covered in glitz and glam. It was a legendary time, and only a handful of clubs defined the era, including New York’s Studio 54. Now that far-out, free-spirited time is coming to Calgary for two nights.

The Calgary Philharmonic is bringing the boogie back to the city this March with a concert inspired by the sounds of Studio 54. Mark your calendars for March 6 and 7, and dance to the songs of the disco era that truly left an impact on us, even to this day.

What to expect

“Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser conducts the Orchestra and a hip cast of vocalists in the disco era’s grooviest hits from Donna Summer, Bee Gees, Gloria Gaynor, Boney M., Diana Ross, Chic, and more,” shares the team.

Vocalists include Alita Moses, Vula Malinga, Brendan Reilly and Schadrack Pierre. And of course, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra will be playing the tunes.

As for songs you can expect to hear, you’re in for a treat. We’re talking “Boogie Nights,” “Dancing Queen,” “Disco Inferno,” “Hot Stuff,” “I Will Survive,” and so much more.

This is a perfect excuse to wear your hottest outfit, dancing shoes and plan a night out with the girls.

Tickets are on sale and start at $33. It’s all going down at the Jack Singer Concert Hall.

Calgary is going back to the grooviest time of all. Do yourself a favour and get tickets ASAP.
