This small town in BC is home to a nature park with two majestic waterfalls

If you’re looking for a fun trip to Vancouver Island this fall, Courtenay is a must-visit. About two hours away from Victoria, the small town is home to over 500 local farms, a variety of eateries, pubs, and craft breweries, and some of the best spas in the area to unwind in. And if you’re in search of outdoor adventure, you’ll definitely find it no matter the season.

In October and November, visitors of Nymph Falls Nature Park can witness salmon spawning upstream. The beautiful park was once a recreation reserve, and now offers a mix of forested hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails.

The park also contains wheelchair-accessible facilities, including a trail to the stunning Nymph Falls.

Located on the north side of the Puntledge River, the falls cascade over fish ladders that help aid the spawning salmon. Just downstream of the falls are steps to the river, which provide the perfect spot for sunbathing and swimming during the warmer months.

Note that visitors are urged to leave the riverside if they hear a siren from BC Hydro.

Other draws of Courtenay to explore include the historic Courtenay Riverway heritage trail, the Comox Valley Art Gallery, the Sid Williams Theatre, and the nearby Seal Bay Regional Nature Park.

So there you have it, BC. Another spot to save for your fall road trip itinerary!
