A free bike festival and cycling race is coming to Vancouver this summer

We all know Vancouver is a great city for cycling, especially during the warmer months. This June, a free bike festival and cycling race is coming to Vancouver’s downtown, and we can’t think of a better way to kick off this year’s Canada Day long weekend.

The event is slated to replace a now postponed electric car race. And really, what better backdrop for a bike fest than the north shore of False Creek?

The event will include a free, family-friendly festival complete with food trucks, a beer garden, live music, and HopOn Kids Bike Obstacle Course. Cyclers of all abilities are also welcome to register for the Tour de Concord cycling race.

“Whether you ride for fitness, fun, or the environment, you are part of the cycling community in our province,” says  Erin Waugh, CEO of Cycling BC. “Cycling is for all ages, all levels, and all communities. We’re all one big cycling community, so come out and love bikes with us.”

The race will start with a free family ride between 4 and 5 pm, followed by an exciting pro cyclist race as the festival continues into the evening. The 850-metre track and festival area will span from BC Place to Concord Community Park by Science World.

In addition to all the fun, there will also be a demo area for e-bikes, road bikes, and mountain bikes where you can talk to the experts. Get a complimentary tune-up, upgrade your gear, and make sure everything is up to par.

We’ll see you there, Vancouver! Don’t forget your helmets.
