Locals Restaurant: It’s all in the name! This beloved restaurant in Courtenay is located in a shingled house with exposed wooden beams, floorboards that creak, and tons of character. The menu focuses on locally sourced ingredients and seasonal West Coast cuisine. Yum!

Comox Valley Farmers’ Market: This weekly market is made of a curated collection of 75+ local vendors all sharing their locally sourced and handmade goods across Courtenay and Cumberland. So depending on where you are in the Comox Valley, there’s always a place to shop locally grown produce, artisanal foods, and handmade crafts.

40 Knots Vineyard & Estate Winery: Is it even a vacation if there isn’t wine? 40 Knots is one of the largest wineries on Vancouver Island. Stop by for a tour of their vineyard and cellar when you’re in Comox to try their award-winning varietals.

Comox Valley Art Gallery: Explore contemporary art, features, workshops, and events. This gallery includes work by both local and regional artists, so be sure to check out what exhibits are on when you’re in town. 

Courtenay and District Museum: This museum was founded in 1961 with a focus on the natural and cultural history of the Comox Valley. Explore exhibits, First Nations artifacts, fossils and interactive displays.

Sid Williams Theatre: Located in downtown Courtenay, this local theatre has live performances year-round like theatre productions, concerts, dance shows, and film screenings. Check out their event schedule when you’re in town!

Seasonal Festivals: Maybe you’ll get lucky, and there will be a festival happening when you visit! The BC Seafood Festival comes around in late June and is all about – you guessed it – seafood! The Vancouver Island Musicfest takes centre stage in July with open-air concerts from all sorts of artists. Finally, there’s the Filberg Festival in August with tons of artisan vendors, food, and music to keep you happy.

Paradise Meadows Trailhead: Strathcona Provincial Park is the oldest provincial park in British Columbia, and the largest on Vancouver Island. This popular trail is an easy loop that can be done in less than an hour but offers stunning vistas, is dog-friendly and ADA compliant! 

Comox Valley Kayaks & Canoes: You can’t go to the island without getting out on the water! Rent a canoe or kayak solo, or go on a guided tour. This rental company offers tours of iconic Comox Valley landmarks like the Estuary, Tree Island and even some Ghost Ships!

Big Animal Encounters: Get up close and personal with the Island wildlife – just not too close! This local company offers whale watching and wildlife tours so you can get the chance to spot orcas, humpback whales, bald eagles, and other marine wildlife in their natural habitat.

Cumberland Community Forest: Bring your helmets! Challenge yourself to ride the world renown trails of Cumberland and the Comox Valley. With trails for all  different skill levels, you’re sure to get some stunning views along with all that adrenaline. Bike rentals,  lessons and guided tours  are offered throughout the year. Mount Washington Zip Line: Speaking of Mount Washington, during the summer season they also open up Vancouver Island’s largest zipline. Step into your harness and see what it’s like to fly! Safely, of course. 

WIP Climbing: If the weather isn’t cooperating, there’s still adventure to be had! This indoor climbing gym in Courtenay has various climbing routes and bouldering challenges for all skill levels along with events and a full fitness facility.
