From tasty deals to a two-day party: Here’s how to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Metro Vancouver

While it might not be an official holiday here in Canada, that hasn’t stopped Vancouverites from getting together every year in honour of Cinco de Mayo. What better way to celebrate than with a cerveza (beer) in hand, and a ton of delicious food in your belly?

In case you didn’t know, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican Independence Day (that’s in September). This holiday celebrates the Mexican defeat of the French army in 1862.

Now that we’ve got that cleared up, here are some Cinco festivities to make note of in Metro Vancouver this year.

Cinco de Mayo celebrations

Chilliwack Party in the Park

The Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival is celebrating Cinco with a free two-day fiesta with some of the best food trucks in BC, live music, and a mix of Cinco and Star Wars-themed festivities for May the Fourth.
