What Canada’s average home price can buy you in Alberta right now

Last week, the Canadian Real Estate Association released its roundup of stats for March, including the average home price in Canada that month. And surprisingly, the price has actually dropped for the first time in months, down to some $796,000. What will Canada’s average home price afford you in Alberta right now? Well, it’s time to find out!

For simplicity’s sake, we’ve set the cap at an even $800,000.

Calgary – $789,900

Calgary is known for new developments, but we’re looking at the heritage side of the city here. Located in Sunalta, this 110-year old offers both original features and updated rooms (most notably the bathrooms). What’s more, you’ll get 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and your own backyard!

Canmore – $795,000

Maybe the time has come for a little bit of mountain living. You’re definitely paying a premium looking in Canmore, but this condo offers a very fun loft layout, a private pool on the property, and of course, stunning mountains views to wake up to.

From the mountains to a lake… pretty fitting for Alberta! Only built in 2015, this lakefront home features a tasteful open-concept flooring that combines modern aesthetics with total functionality. And with 4 bedrooms, we don’t doubt living here will be a revolving door of friends coming to visit and relax.

Edmonton – $784,900

Like in Calgary, we think Edmonton’s more central neighbourhoods are the place to be. Luckily, this Rossdale home for sale offers both easy access to downtown as well as the River Valley! You’ve got 3 beds, 3.5 baths, and over $200,000 in recent renovations to enjoy here.

Bow Island – $799,000

Ok, time for a couple more out-there picks. First up, we’ve got this greenhouse facility at Bow Island, which is fully functional and comes with two mobile homes- one for lodging and one for cooking/storage. Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, it’s also got a heritage train station on the property? Fire.

Rural Kneehill County – $789,000

Hear us out here. Sure, this might be a no longer functional chicken farm. But do you know what it could be? A sprawling artist’s collective filled to the brim with individual studios for all kinds of practices. Let your communal dreams soar, then sell your work for massive profit.

We have to admit, you get a lot of bang for your buck when checking out what Canada’s average home price can buy you in Alberta right now. Maybe it’s time we finally start saving up, instead of blowing all our paychecks on avocado toast…
