Here’s what Canada’s average home price can buy you across BC right now

Last week, the Canadian Real Estate Association released its roundup of stats for March, including the average home price in Canada that month. And surprisingly, the price has actually dropped for the first time in months, down to some $796,000. What will Canada’s average home price afford you in BC right now? Well, it’s time to find out!

For simplicity’s sake, we’ve set the cap at an even $800,000.

Victoria – $769,900

While it might not get you a home proper, the average price could afford you a pretty sweet setup close to downtown Victoria! This 1 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo offers practically a waterfront setup in a fully renovated building.

Egmont – $799,000

Meanwhile, those looking for a more serene living situation might look to the Sunshine Coast! The waterfront community is close to a BC Ferry stop (convenient), but we think it’ll be hard to leave this charming A-frame cabin anyway.

Squamish – $779,000

To the mountains we go! Squamish might not be as convenient as straight up living in Whistler, but this once-sleepy town is now a major destination in and of itself. And of course, it wouldn’t hurt to wake up to a spectacular view of The Chief in this 2-bed, 1-bath condo.

Keremeos – $749,900

Honestly, this might be our favourite pick on the entire list. Located in Keremeos (which is under an hour away from Oliver, Osoyoos and Penticton), this 102-year-old home has been lovingly kept, offering 4 beds and 2 baths and an aesthetic we can’t get enough of.

Kelowna – $799,900

We keep flip flopping between condos and homes, but it’s for good reason. Located in downtown Kelowna, this 8th-floor spots offers 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and some fantastic views of the surrounding area. Plus, the 11-foot ceilings really do add to the roomy feeling.

Nelson – $739,900

Work and play doesn’t get much easier than this detached home with a legal suite already good to go. You’ve still got 3 beds and 2 baths in the main living area, but another 2 beds and 1 bath down below. Ski in the winter, boat in the summer, and relax year-round.

Vancouver – $719,000

Just for fun, why not have the cheapest home on this list also be our pick for Vancouver? It’s the smallest, no doubt, but you do actually get 1 devoted bedroom and a bathroom. Plus, there’s no denying that the building amenities are impressive, with everything from a rooftop deck to an indoor pool to a bowling alley at your disposal.

Honestly, we’re not nearly as bummed about this roundup of what Canada’s average home price can buy you in BC as we thought we’d be. Fingers crossed we get more of the same next month!
