These Ontario parks have camping sites available for Canada Day weekend

Those looking to spend some time in the great outdoors this long weekend are in luck. You can still book last-minute camping sites at Ontario provincial parks this Canaday Day weekend.

A representative of Ontario Parks told Curiocity in an email that although this is one of the busiest long weekends of the year at provincial parks, there are still some places where you can book a spontaneous camping trip.

However, you’ll have a pretty long drive ahead of you if you’re coming from the Toronto area, as many of these available campsites are in the northern Ontario region.

There are still many campsites available at parks along the Boreal Route, which is a gorgeous road trip that takes you past secluded beaches, majestic forests, waterfalls, and even a hidden boardwalk.

You’ll find some last-minute camping availability in Rene Brunelle Provincial Park and Kettle Lakes Provincial Park, which “provide a unique opportunity to explore the province’s geological and cultural history,” according to Ontario Parks.

“There are also many sites available at parks along the coast of Lake Superior. Spots such as Rainbow Falls Provincial Park and White Lake Provincial Park are great places to explore with the whole family.”

And if you’re looking to do some more camping this summer and fall, you can book your spot on the Ontario Parks website up to five months in advance.

The online reservation system even helps you out by suggesting alternative parks if your first choice is full. You can also sign up for cancellation notices and get emailed when there’s a last-minute cancellation at a park you’re looking to visit.

Plus, there are tons of day trips to provincial parks that you can take, and you can reserve your spot up to five days in advance at 33 parks across the province.
