To say that the last year and a half was just ‘memorable’ would be a gross understatement. Never before had we seen so many people work together despite being advised to stay 6-feet apart. It’s has been a wild ride, but it’s also been incredibly inspiring. Last year, we put together Motor Nights: A Series of Drive-In Events as a way to give people something fun to look forward to again, but this year, we want to do far more than that. In 2021 we want to give back, donating a portion of the proceeds to a different local charity every weekend.
Just in case you missed it, Motor Nights brought a sense of excitement and nostalgia to several COVID summer evenings, featuring a collection of cult favourites, Hollywood hits, horror movies, romance flicks, and musicals that the entire family could enjoy. With a little help from our friends from YYC Food Trucks and AHS, a giant LED screen, a selection of beloved classics, and of course, the support from our followers old and new, the event really came to life, and we intend to do that again!
Now that we know that we can get it done, we’d like to use this as an opportunity to make a change, starting with our first donor The Alex Community Health Centre.
ACHC is an amazing organization that acts as a hub for Calgary’s most vulnerable, providing them with food, friends, and even helping through the minefield that is mental health.
Through dedicated volunteers and a focus on wellness, they’ve been able to build a community and have helped many on their way to a better future.
If you’re interested in attending the first weekend of this year’s Motor Nights, things will be kicking off in Calgary from Thursday, May 27th to Sunday, May 30th with tickets selling at $55 per car. If your car can safely fit 6 people and you’re from the same cohort, well, looks like it’s a cheap movie night!
