Our temps have been lurking around the -20s, but that doesn’t mean we’re staying home this weekend. Us Calgarians are a tough breed, so read on for 8 of the best things to do this weekend, no matter how cold it gets.
Shop your heart at the Night Market
February 8 is the Market’s pre-Valentine’s night market, so get out there and shop for your honey (or for your single self). 40+ vendors will be showcasing one of a kind handmade and local goods all based in Calgary!
When: Friday, February 8, 2019 @ 5 PM – 11 PM
Where: Eau Claire Market– 200 Barclay Parade SW
Escape the city with Basecamp
We all love the city, but it can be nice to spend a little time with neature, too. Head over to Canmore and soak in Basecamp’s rooftop hot tub, take in those mountain views, and stargaze the night away!
When: Availability Varies By Date
Where: 1102 Bow Valley Trail, Canmore
Go crazy at the Corral
As if you needed another reason to support Junior Hockey, the Calgary Hitmen will be paying homage to a historic Calgary team this Friday! It’s their last game of the Corral Series, so don’t miss out!
When: Friday, February 8 @ 7 PM
Where: Stampede Corral
Cost: $29.25+
Explore Dior at the Glenbow
Don your own “New Look” and celebrate the launch of the Dior exhibit at the museum. Using the “unparalleled corporate fashion archive” from Christian Dior Héritage, Paris, and the Royal Ontario Museum’s “remarkable collection of Christian Dior haute couture,” this showcase is a blast from the past… and boy, is it a fashionable one.
When: Runs throughout the weekend; Launch Party Saturday, February 9 @ 7:30 PM
Where: Glenbow Museum– 130 9th Ave SE
Cost: General admission to the Glenbow
Jam out with the Arkells
Knocking At The Door and Relentless are serious bops. If you don’t agree, then we can’t be friends. (JK we can but we’re seriously questioning everything we know about you.)
When: Saturday, February 9 @ 7:30 PM
Where: Scotiabank Saddledome
Cost: $40.50+
Hang with Peppa Pig
To celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Pig, the Calgary Zoo is hosting one of the Treehouse TV’s most popular shows, Peppa Pig. Peppa and her brother George will be greeting fans, taking photos, and hanging out from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
When: Saturday, February 16 & Sunday, February 17 @ 10 AM – 2 PM
Where: 210 St. George’s Drive NE
Seas the day at the Calgary Boat & Outdoors Show
Peruse boats of all sizes, shop marine accessories, and sift through fishing, camping, and hunting gear galore. Find fishing guides and lodges, destination travel locations, and ATVs. Buoy oh buoy, this is gonna be a heck of a party.
When: Friday, February 8 – Sunday, February 10 @ 1 PM – 5 PM daily
Where: BMO Centre, Stampede Park– 20 Roundup Way SW
Check out a massive photography exhibition
Hosted by ONE Properties, “The FENCE” is one of the world’s largest traveling photography exhibitions. Eight cities across North America have gotten the opportunity to see it, including Atlanta, Houston, and Brooklyn… and now, it’s Calgary’s turn.
When: Up throughout the weekend
Where: Along Macleod Trail, 12th Ave SW and 13th Ave SW
That’s it that’s all. Make sure you tag us in all your weekend adventures!
