Well, it’s our last full weekend of August. We don’t know whether to cry or to bury ourselves in a mountain of soft pretzels, but in between those things we’ll be filling our time with wicked things to do in Calgary this weekend. You’re welcome to share a pretzel if you want, not like either of us need our summer bods anymore anyway.

Here are 8 of the very best things to do in Calgary on the very last full weekend of August.

Glenbow Museum

Glenbow’s latest round of exhibitions launched earlier this summer and run until September 22. They include Nick Cave: Feat., Ed Pien: Our Beloved, Second Skin, One New Work by Kent Merrima Jr.: Remnants and Ric Kokotovich Mardi Gras 1983-1987! Go check ’em before they’re gone, Calgary!

Shake, Stir and Strainbow

Leading up to Calgary Pride 2019, 70+ restaurants have joined in on this boozy fundraiser. Partial proceeds from each signature cocktail sold will go to the Skipping Stone Foundation, which aims to support and empower transgender youth and their families.

Puppy Yoga

Our ultimate life goal is to be covered in puppies, always, at all times. This Calgary puppy yoga class is getting us one big step (or one big forward lunge) closer! Get bendy and get up close and personal with pups who need to hang out with people before their forever homes. With this on our calendar, life is looking up…ward dog.

When: Saturday, August 24 & Sunday, August 25

Movie in the Park

Ever since Danny and Sandy had that iconic drive-in movie date, we’ve wanted to recreate the scene. Gotta get that summer lovin’ in some time, right?! Luckily for us Calgarians, there’s an event going on in Harvest Hills. Grab hot dogs from Dogzilla, treats from Mini Donuts Canada, and cuddle up under the stars.

When: Saturday, August 24
Where: Harvest Hills Hub– 178 Harvest Glen Way NE

Cirque du Soleil: Luzia

Enjoy a ‘waking dream of Mexico’, and head down to the newest Cirque du Soleil to grace Calgary. Hoop diving, weird water tricks… you know, classic circus stuff, but at the highest possible level.

When: Now until September 22
Where: Under the Big Top, Stampede Park (Lot #6)

Brewery & The Beast

Brewery & The Beast Calgary returns for its 5th year, and the game is being brought.
