And just like that, the week is already over! Time just flies right by doesn’t it? Now it’s time to slow things down, kick your feet up, have a drink, relax, and catch an event or two. Don’t know where to start? We’ve got you. Here are 8 things to do in Calgary this weekend.

TELUS SPARK – DOME MOVIE NARRATED BY RYAN REYNOLDS

They say you should learn one thing a day. This Friday, learn several! The Telus Spark Science Center will be premiering their brand new dome movie, Great Bear Rainforest, narrated by Canada’s boyfriend, Ryan Reynolds. Grab a bag of popcorn and journey through the magical environment that is the Canadian Rainforest. The grand opening event also includes real biofacts from the Calgary Zoo, a meet and greet with the film’s sound designer, hands-on wood-burning activities and ton more. Sounds delightfully educational.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN WINE AND FOOD FESTIVAL

Eat and drink, but mostly drink, your way through this weekend. kick things off on Friday at the Rocky Mountain Wine and Food Festival, go back for more on Saturday and then maybe take Sunday to recover. You’re actually going to need that much time to get through all 300 of their wines, 480 of their beers, ciders, and spirits. Don’t even get us started on the food. Godspeed, Calgary.

THEATRE CALGARY PRESENTS: ICELAND

Date nights: They’re expensive, and they’re usually the same thing time after time. You’ve come to the right place if you’re looking for something a little bit different. Iceland is Theatre Calgary’s shortest and most affordable production ever. Follow an exchange student, an escort and a businessman into a world of money, greed and moral navigation, and then leave feeling like you just got pulled over by the cops.

HAUNTED CALGARY

Are you afraid of the dark, Calgary? If you’re not, you will be. Haunted Calgary has 23 long years of spooking experience, that becomes frighteningly apparent as you walk through their three new haunted houses: Deep Sleep Hotel, Cesspool, and Sanitorium. Wow, sounds almost like a vacation. Check it out, if you dare.

This is a must-do! The re-imagined CRAFT is absolutely insane. Grab a cold one and hit the lawn, like it’s mid-July. Play a few rounds of bocce ball, grab a bite to eat, or just hang by the cocktail camper.
