And just like that, in the blink of an eye, it’s Monday again. Welcome back, Calgary! We hope that you have a bit of energy left over from this weekend, because this list is bumpin, if we do say so ourselves. Let the fun continue!

Here are 8 things to do in Calgary this week.

CALL ME OLD FASHIONED AT BETTY LOU’S LIBRARY

Celebrate the “gentleman’s drink” with other old-timey things, like jazz and complimentary tapas. This week, listen to the soulful stylings of Juno-nominated singer-pianist Joanna Borromeo. She’ll be covering classics by Alicia Keys, John Legend, Fleetwood Mac & Ella Fitzgerald.

FILM NOIR AT GLOBE CINEMA 

Fancy a relaxing night out? Check out Globe Cinema’s showing of 1946’s The Big Sleep, a classic about murder, mystery and blackmail.

THE ART OF BEING CALGARIAN- BELGIAN MOON X CURTIS VAN CHARLES

The delicious and Artfully Crafted Belgian Moon beer is celebrating “The Art of Being Calgarian” with a four day pop up at Small Space Gallery. Featuring the work of local Calgary artist Curtis Van Charles, seven limited-run pieces will pay tribute to what makes the city of Calgary and its residents so dang special. Of course, with a touch of Belgian Moon beautifully incorporated into the art. The installation consists of a “Press For Art” vending machine, dispensing free prints from the collection! 18+ event.

BANFF MOUNTAIN FILM FESTIVAL TOUR

Fall in love with the Rockies all over again. For over 40 years this festival has shown and celebrated the best in mountain cinematography. Check out one of their acclaimed feature-length movies during one of two weekends this January.

STRUMBELLAS WITH NEON DREAMS

The Strumbellas have dominated alternative radio stations worldwide with songs like “Sprits” and “We Don’t Know” off their newest album Hope. Catch them and pop duo Neon Dreams, best known for their 2016 hit “Marching Bands” this week at the Jubilee.

2020 CALGARY MS WHISKY FESTIVAL

They say it’ll put hair on your chest. Get right down to the truth at the 9th annual MS Whisky Festival! Try over 300 different kinds of whisky from over 40 vendors, all while raising awareness and money for The MS Society of Canada.

CAT YOGA

Don’t nama-stay in bed this Thursday. This one hour hatha yoga session will give you 9 lives. The unique expierience includes the class, a complimentary small loose-leaf tea, and time with the adorable kitties of the Regal Cat Cafe.

HALF MOON RUN

This Montreal group’s percussion-heavy sound has been described as everything from indie-rock and dreamy alt-pop to psychedelic indie. This week, sway to their angelic harmonies and vibe to their unique sound when they take the stage at MacEwan Hall.
