You can fly down 3 glowing ice slides in this cute Alberta lake town
Like most of you, we’re totally over winter. It’s cold and dry… but there’s no sense in dwelling on it. Instead, we’re going to make the most of whatever is left in the season by bundling up and hitting the snow! From skating rinks to festivals, towns and cities all over Alberta have been doing the absolute most in an effort to make getting outside incredibly fun and easy – just check out Sylvan Lake!
Complete with stairs, lights, and even the town’s logo, Sylvan Lake has actually carved 3 chilling ice slides – all of which are totally free to check out!

This year, these bad boys were built in celebration of Sylvan’s first-ever socially distanced ice-fishing derby tournament, the Big Jig – and they’re bigger than ever. Cool right?
In addition to the ice slides, the festival (which will run between February 13th and 15th) will also feature a ‘pass the poutine contest,’ Valentine’s sleigh rides, and cultural workshops.
To be honest, we have no interest in fishing, but we have to admit that this entire shindig is going to be pretty cool. If you’re local to the area or are passing through why not mask up and check it out! It’s going to be incredible.
For more information or to register for the derby, visit Sylvan Lake’s town website here.
