Hey there, house hunting friends! Welcome back to another installment of Curiocity Calgary’s Rental of the Week! This time around we’ve got a comfy rent-to-own in the charming community of Mount Pleasant.

This modern 5-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom townhouse is basically the perfect starter home. It’s still close enough to downtown that you can get to and from work without a hitch, but it’s also in a family neighborhood with trees and parks. You’ve got the best of both worlds! Let’s take a little look-see, shall we?

CALGARY RENTAL OF THE WEEK

Now, we look at a ton of homes week to week, like a whole lot. To be honest, plenty of the newer homes look like carbon copies of one another, Some would say they lack character, but we’d argue that these homes will actually age better than most.

This home is like a little black dress or a nice white dress shirt. It’s sophisticated and will go with just about anything. Because this home, in particular, is a rent-to-own, it’s important to know that if you get bored of the layout or your throw pillows, you can change it up without having to take all those small things into account. Ikea is your oyster!

The kitchen features a large 10-foot island and stainless steel appliances (do homes come with anything else these days?) There’s not one, not two, but three living rooms to entertain, and two wet bars, which seems excessive until you find out how much this place costs a month. You might want to take a bit of the edge off before seeing the price tag.

The master bedroom is large with an ensuite with barn door separation and a large closet and easy access to the upstairs laundry room. There’s also a theatre room and a bonus room for you to what you please with it.

Now, the pricing on this bad boy is pretty reasonable if you take into consideration that you’ll eventually own the place. According to the listing, renters pay $3,500 a month and the homeowners will match the renters $1,250. Which sounds pretty dece to us.

You can check out the original rental listing and the semi-confusing home-owners math equation here! Happy house shopping!
