When we were kids being able to go to the Disney Store was second best only to the theme park itself, which is why today’s news is so sad. According to a statement made by the company this morning, Disney will be closing 60 of its magical stores across North America.

With Disney+ doing as well as it is (94.9 million subscribers) and ‘ya know, the fact that they’re just one of the biggest companies on the planet, it’s safe to say that these closures have little to do with their finances. Of course, while the company’s revenue reportedly fell 22%, they still exceeded Wall Street’s expectations and are doing just fine.

Shopping has just changed dramatically over the last year and with the success of their e-commerce store, there just is no need for 300 Disney Store locations worldwide.

Luckily, for you who do prefer the hands-on experience, these closures will not take place at any of their Disney Parks or in their affiliate stores like Target in the States.

We still can’t help but feel like this is the beginning of the end of an era, but we get it. They’ve gotta do what they’ve gotta do. There’s no word yet on which stores will take the hit or even when, but we’re sure it won’t take long. Bon Voyage, Disney Stores (20% of you, anyway), you will be missed.
