Co-op building fancy residential units & urban grocery store in Marda Loop
Hey, Marda Loop-iens! Great news! Or bad news if you’re attached to your current local shopping experience. Co-op is making major moves in Marda Loop. They’re set to redevelop the core of the community, with an urban grocery store, residential, retail, and commercial spaces.
Right now, the area houses local businesses, shops, and a fitness centre, which will all continue to run as usual until a development plan is made. Until then, we only know a few things for sure, one of them being that these things take time. The other? This Calgary Co-op will be completely different from the others.
Grocery stores are typically 37,000-52,000 square feet, but this time around they’ll only have 77,101 square feet to lay out everything they plan on adding to the area. This store is going to be small, guys.
In the last two years, Co-op has also purchased the Chinook Park Plaza and Community Natural Foods, so they’re no stranger to this kind of thing.
The purchase deal is set to close this month, but we’ll keep you guys updated as the info rolls in! This could be an interesting one to watch.
