Well, friends, the time has come. As part of the newly announced step-two, Albertans can finally get back to the gym under two conditions! First, we’ve got to keep it simple and second, all workouts must be pre-booked. For this reason, it’s been tough to hit the treadmill during peak hours, like before or after work. Luckily, now, the city is getting in on it, announcing that they too will be opening several community centres for low-intensity activities, giving Calgary folks more facility options.

According to their website, all self-led appointments can be booked now, but cannot take place until Tuesday, March 9th.

Indoor fitness centres & libraries may now open as part of step 2, effective Alberta-wide today!

As for any registered programs, those cannot be booked until the 9th, but will not be offered until Monday, March 15th, however, pools at the following community centres are open and can be used now:

  • Bob Bahan Aquatic & Fitness Centre
  • Canyon Meadows Aquatic & Fitness Centre
  • Killarney Aquatic & Recreation Centre
  • Sir Winston Churchill Aquatic & Recreation Centre

Of course, face coverings will be required inside all facilities unless you’re in the pools. This means that yes, you will still have to keep it on while you’re using any equipment or while doing any low-intensity activities in Calgary facilities.

For more information on which programs will be offered in the coming weeks or to book an appointment, you can visit the city’s website here.
